Dear Friend of Montchardon,
We are pleased to provide you with some updates on the upcoming events at Montchardon, including a talk by Jigme Rinpoche, daily practices, and extended stay options.
Message from the Karmapa
We invite you to read the profound and heartfelt letter from His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Thaye Dorje, paying tribute to Lama Teunsang.
End of Lama Teunsang’s tukdam
Jigme Rinpoche and Gendun Rinchen arrived at Montchardon yesterday to pay their respects to Lama Teunsang. Lama Sangpo confirmed that Lama Teunsang’s tukdam ended on October 9th, which was confirmed by Jigme Rinpoche.
You can pay your respects to Lama Teunsang’s kudung (body) in the main temple from Wednesday, October 11th, to Sunday, October 15th.
Depending on the number of attendees, a rotation system will be set up in the main temple, with simultaneous streaming available in the Nyung Ne temple and on KML Gompa TV.
Talk by Jigme Rinpoche today, Tuesday, October 10th, at 2 pm
To help us better understand how to connect when a master has departed and the practices performed during this period, Jigme Rinpoche will deliver a talk today at 2 pm in the Montchardon main temple. This teaching will be live-streamed on KML Gompa TV and recorded for later viewing.
Practices in the coming days
Mornings from 6:55 am to 8:00 am: Vajravidarana Dharani, 100 thousand mantras, and Guru Yoga of the 4 sessions of the 8th Karmapa.
Until Sunday, we will continue the practices recommended by Karmapa, from 10am to 11.30am and from 3pm to 4.30pm:
– Samantabhadra Aspiration Prayer (Sangtcheu Meunlam)
– the Heart Sutra, which we have already recited for Lama Teunsang
– the Chorale of the Names of Manjushri, one of the oldest Buddhist tantras, recited at the Kagyu Monlam, among other occasions
– the 8th Karmapa’s Guru yoga of the four sessions
For the links to the texts we are reciting, please see above at the bottom of the French version. You can also find the first three texts in the Kagyu Monlam book.
Evenings from 8 pm to 9 pm: Chenrezig practice.
Some sessions may be replaced by the long Amitabha ritual with tsok offering, which will be performed in the main temple every day for a week. These practices will be live-streamed on KML Gompa TV. Please note that times may vary slightly, and we will keep you updated.
