Please note: Once payment has been made, you will receive your booking confirmation and your entry pass by email. This personal pass contains a QR code for all the teaching days you have chosen. You will need to print it out or download it onto your mobile phone and present it at each entrance to the marquee, where it will be checked twice daily.
The entry pass is only valid for the date(s) mentioned at the time of purchase and cannot be used for another date. It is sold by the day (no half-day rate).
As always in Montchardon, the financial question should not be an obstacle to your coming. You can contact us in case of financial difficulties: info.karmapa2023@montchardon.org
Timetable and programme details
In addition to the programme teaching times, the following daily practices will take place:
6.40 am: Vajravidarana Dharani, Hundred Thousand Mantras and Green Tara

Lunch
At lunchtime only, you can register for a quality gluten-free vegetarian meal, balanced in protein intake, which will be prepared each day in Montchardon. Meals will include: a starter, a hot cooked dish, a dessert, bread and tap water.
The price of the meal is 9€. It is free for children up to 6 years old and 4,50€ for children from 7 to 12 years old.
Meals must be purchased in advance via the Internet ticketing system. The meal ticket is different from the teaching sessions tickets. It will have to be shown each day at the restaurant entrance. No meal will be sold without prior registration.
The deadline for purchasing meal tickets is 14 July.
Volunteering
The organisation of such an event can only be done with the generous involvement of many volunteers. It is an opportunity to be part of a team serving the Gyalwa Karmapa’s activity and to contribute to the organisation of an exceptional event. Your help is most welcome!
Volunteering will not involve continuous days of activity but just a few hours of occasional help aside from teaching sessions (unless there is an exceptional need).
We will not be able to offer volunteers free teaching sessions, free meals or free accommodation. We therefore invite you to sign up for teachings and lunches, and to arrange accommodation in the surrounding area.
You can make a voluntary contribution according to your availability by filling in the form below, specifying the positions you wish to fill or for which you have skills, as well as your dates of availability. It is necessary to speak French well enough to register as a volunteer. For reasons of organisation and efficiency, we would be grateful if you would register now.
Volunteer form: sign up now 😀
We thank you in advance for your participation and support in the organisation of this exceptional event.
Access for people with reduced mobility
Montchardon is located on a mountainside, with a lot of uneven terrain, hence the need for people with reduced mobility to have someone to help them. Should this be your case, please indicate it when registering (your help must also be registered).
Refreshments
A refreshment stand will be available for hot and cold drinks and various sweets.
Accommodation
While the Gyalwa Karmapa is visiting, no accommodation will be available in Montchardon, not even camping. All rooms will be required to accommodate the Karmapa’s entourage of lamas, guests and those in charge of the many organisational positions. Volunteers will not be able to stay on site either.
There are many possibilities for accommodation in the surrounding area: over 4,000 beds are available within a 30 kilometre radius of the town of St Marcellin. You will find useful suggestions at the St Marcellin Tourist Office: +33 476 38 53 85.
Carpooling
Carpooling can be used : 1) to come from your home to the St Marcellin area, and/or
2) locally, to get to Montchardon each day
We have created a page dedicated to the event on a carpooling website which offers a very simple and free system for people who offer a seat in their vehicle or are looking for one. It has no advertising and the data collected is not sold. To access this service: www.togetzer.com/covoiturage/karma-migyur-ling
We strongly advise people with a car to organise carpooling to get to the Centre: it will limit the traffic on the small Montchardon road, parking difficulties within the Centre and the environmental impact.
To facilitate your coming
Information will be sent to you before the event to clarify all the details. Frequently asked questions (FAQ) will soon be available on the Montchardon website.
If you have a specific question, you can use this email address: info.karmapa2023@montchardon.org
The Montchardon reception desk will not be able to answer questions about the event.
Being in presence of the Gyalwa Karmapa is a rare opportunity to be in contact with a realised being, the embodiment of the activity and compassion of all Buddhas. It is with great joy that we look forward to welcoming His Holiness in Montchardon, and we hope that many of you will come and participate in these days of teachings and blessing, in the presence of the Gyalwa Karmapa.
We thank you in advance for your generous commitment to making this event a success, to the delight of all.
Yours in dharma,
The Montchardon team
