Shambala Travel & Tours propose de participer au Kagyu Monlam en novembre

 

dates: 10 au 14 novembre 2007 en présence de Sa Sainteté Karmapa et de Shamar Rinpoché. Lama Teunsang sera aussi présent.

Kagyu Monlam

Historiquement, il semble que la tradition des Monlam Tchenmo (les grandes réunions de prière) a été établie au Tibet dès le huitième siècle. Et au cours des siècles suivants, ces réunions sont devenues de plus en plus populaires, réunissant parfois plus de 50 000 moines.

Pour la lignée Kagyu, c'est au 13 ème siècle que le 3 ème Karmapa a introduit cette pratique. Après l'exil de 1959, elle fut revitalisée par Kalou Rinpotché qui insistait tout particulièrement sur l'importance de la récitation des prières de souhaits, et en 1983, le premier Kagyu Monlam fut organisé à Bodhgaya, réintroduisant ainsi cette pratique bouddhiste sur le sol qui l'avait vu naître.

  Quelques années après, en 1996, eut lieu, toujours à Bodhgaya, un Kagyu Monlam conduit par le 17 ème Karmapa et Kunzig Shamar Rinpotché. Ce fut alors un événement marquant, car pour la première fois dans l'histoire, un Karmapa recevait ses voeux d'ordination monastique là même où le Bouddha réalisa l'Éveil. À cette occasion, un grand nombre de lamas importants et plus de 6000 moines et nonnes se réunirent.

Plus généralement, le Kagyu Monlam appartient aux pratiques de dévotion fréquemment accomplies lors de pèlerinages sur les lieux saints du Bouddhisme, où il est de coutume de réciter des prières de souhaits et de procéder à l'offrande de lampes à beurre. Ainsi, le pratiquant réuni en lui les conditions qui favorisent le développement de deux qualités essentielles à l'obtention de l'Éveil : la disposition positive et la connaissance. Concernant cette pratique, Nagarjuna dit que si les prières de souhaits sont faites en présence de grands bodhisattvas, la force de la prière résultante est si puissante qu'elle peut prévenir les catastrophes naturelles et purifier toutes sortes de négativités.

Cette année, à Bodhgaya, du 10 au 14 novembre 2007, c'est à nouveau en présence de Sa Sainteté Karmapa et de Shamar Rinpotché qu'aura lieu cette grande pratique de prières de souhaits. This is to inform you all that the organizer committee already organized three successive Monlam at Bodhgaya in the year 1996, 2000 and 2004.

For the well being and beneficiation of all sentient being, organizer committee once again holding a great Monlam at Bodhgaya sponsored by Yvonne Wong from 10th November to 14th November  2007 for 5 days. Many Great Lamas, Rimpoches, Monks and foreigner from all over the world will participate this Monlam.  His Holiness 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorjee and H.H. Kunzing Shamar Rinpoche will also join the Monlam.

Therefore Monlam Committee has chosen the only Karma Kagyu Tour Operator (Shambhala Travels) for individuals and small groups who might like to join the package pilgrimage tours to Nepal and India. The rate for these two package tours is discounted in maximum with a condition, if the size of the group is less than 20 pax. The package can be cancelled by the company before two weeks and advance payment will be paid back in full amount at Bodhgaya or Kathmandu.

How to reach Bodh-Gaya

 

Bodh-Gaya is in Bihar state of Indian and can simply reached there by train, bus or airplane. Traveling by road can take more time than comparable distances in the West, Hong Kong and similar locations.

By Air

There is a flight to Patna and then proceed from Patina to Bodh-Gaya by taxi.  It takes normally 3-4 hours.  Bodh-Gaya has started hosting International flights from Sri Lanka, Thai and Bhutan. Transportation of Car or Bus to Bodh-Gaya from airport can be arranged on arrival. Regarding schedule, fare and flight availability, one can directly contact through Indian Airlines.  Other airlines may also serve Patna Airport.  For further information contact Travel Agent.

 By Train

The nearest train station in Gaya is 16 kms.  There are many taxis can be hired at Raiway Station. From Gaya to Bodh-Gaya takes less than one hour by drive.  The Rajdani Express train is one the quickest service and most comfortable running between Delhi and Calcutta that stops at Gaya.  For detail information contact Indian Rail.

 

Accommodation

There are several guest house and lodging alternative in Bodh-Gaya within comfortable walking distance of the stupa temple.  The information is provided to assist those pilgrims who want to make their arrangement in advance.

Some brief information:

Lumbini : Once upon a time, over 25 th centuries ago, kapilvastu, the capital of the sakya was in a festive mood. Mahamaya , the chief queen of king Suddhodana, had dream in which a magnificent white elephant with a lotus in his trunk appeared and entered her site. The 64 Brahman soothsayers who were invited to interpret the queen's dream prophesied that she would give to an illustrious son who would either be a world conqueror or a world renounced. On the auspicious full moon day of Vaisakha in 566 BC in Lumbini grove, just outside Kapilvastu, the young prince was born. He was named Siddhartha Gautama (Siddhartha Gautama meaning one who has achieved his purpose, Gautama being the name of his gotra or clan.

The Lumbini, the sacred site of Lord Buddha's birth is today a small village in NEPAL, 27 Km from Sonauli on the Indo-Nepal border.

Bodhgaya: is located in Bihar, 115 Km from Patna. Here more then 2500 years ago come Siddhartha, a young ascetic, having royal heritage. He was looking quite retreat place where he meditates for 6 years and enlightened as Buddha under the boddhi tree.

Saranath: After Sakyamuni gained enlightenment under the Boddhi tree on the bank of the Niranjana River, he walk over 250 Kms from Bodhgaya and teach his first 4 noble truths to his 5 disciple

Kushinagar: is a place that the Buddha chose for his Mahaparinirvana, or the final exit from this earth. Kushinagar or Kushinara as it was then known was the capital of the Malla republic, one of the republican states of modern India during the 6 th and 5 th centuries BC. Kushinagar is identified with the modern village of Kaisa, 51 kms from Gorakpur city, in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
